Iberia Parish Government Finance Committee meeting, October 19, 2026: The committee reviewed proposed 2027 budgets for Recreation and Playground, Sewer District No. 1, Waterworks District No. 3, the airport authority, and public buildings. Recreation proposed a $3,927,792 budget, including a $360,392 draw from fund balance, and discussed higher limestone costs and planned parking-lot and playground work. Sewer District No. 1 reviewed projected sewer revenue of about $3.4 million, a $175,000 capital-improvements line, and operating expenses that include payments to the City of New Iberia; staff said they would develop supporting data for possible Port of Iberia rate adjustments. Waterworks discussed a North Canal-area DOT project that may require moving water lines, with design costs initially borne by the district, and a proposed $100,000 water-plant building item. First Solar’s current flat-rate payment arrangement is expected to transition to flow-based billing in March 2027.

Airport authority budget discussions included $110,000 for airport wayfinding signage, $15,000 for marketing, and $150,000 for a tractor and bush hog (a quote of about $126,000 was cited); the authority also discussed potentially acquiring a 1.5-acre parcel for future airport development. Public Buildings proposed $200,000 for the courthouse annex ceiling, $75,000 for Generet VFW restroom and wall work, another $17,000 for its roof, and $250,000 for Veterans Memorial improvements at City Park. Members discussed seeking capital-outlay support, including an existing request of roughly $800,000 and a possible additional request of about $1.4 million, and evaluating whether to consolidate some veteran facilities. No committee votes approving contracts or budgets were recorded; several matters were left for further review, including airport consultant materials, facility needs, and utility-rate analysis.
