The City of San Bruno City Council’s special and regular meetings on October 13, 2026, focused substantially on the Crestmoor Fields Improvement Project and the city’s long-term financial outlook. Staff recommended placing the project on indefinite hold, citing construction estimates exceeding $10 million, estimated 10-year ownership costs of $12.5–$14 million, and an ongoing operating subsidy even under favorable fee scenarios. Advancing design would require about $560,000 in fee credits. After public comment and council discussion, members indicated they did not want to stop the project and asked staff to continue exploring alternatives, including discussions with the Olympic Club, the San Bruno Community Foundation, and user groups, as well as lower-cost field options and additional design-cost estimates. No formal vote on the Crestmoor project was recorded; the authorized stormwater-basin reimbursement agreement, up to $305,000, was described as unaffected.

Council also approved a new fee structure for the city-operated senior nutrition and transportation programs, with low-income resident protections and resident priority. The transition would forgo up to $198,000 in annual county reimbursements after November 30, 2026. The council received an update on the countywide transportation plan, including local priority projects such as San Bruno Avenue safety improvements, the SFO Bay Trail gap closure, and grade-separation work; no project award or funding decision was made on that item. Separately, the council approved an ordinance reducing the Planning Commission from seven members to five by a unanimous 5–0 vote.
