The Lewiston Public Schools School Committee met on October 19, 2026. The committee unanimously approved two field trips: an overnight ecology trip to the Ecology School in Saco for a small group of students and staff, and college visits to Saint Anselm College and Southern New Hampshire University. No costs were stated, and no contract awards or bid approvals were identified. In its multilingual-program update, staff reported adopting the Flashlight360 language-proficiency monitoring tool, funded entirely through Title III, and described summer programming supported by a Refugee School Impact Grant.
Budget and funding discussions included a transfer of unexpended FY2026 funds to cover a nutrition-program shortfall; the superintendent said the district may need a dedicated nutrition budget line in the future. The committee was also warned that proposed changes to federal E-rate funding could put more than $400,000 in annual support for school technology, network connections, and related equipment at risk. Staff discussed planning for the district’s upcoming special-education responsibilities for young children, including possible partnerships and MOUs with local providers; funding and service arrangements remain under development. The committee also approved a school-committee conduct procedure on first reading by a 7–2 vote and other policy items unanimously; these were policy actions, not procurement decisions.
