The City of Springdale, Arkansas City Council Committee met October 19, 2026. Springdale Water Utilities reported roughly $250 million in projects completed, underway, or in design, including a completed $50 million wastewater capacity project, the completed $13.2 million Benton Farm lift station, a $45 million 48-inch water transmission line nearing service, and a $13 million force-main project about halfway complete. Future work includes an estimated $35 million East Side water main and a sewer expansion supported by a $3 million community project grant, with a further $4 million grant request pending. Staff also discussed leak repairs, wastewater filtration, impact-fee collections, and regional water and wastewater planning; no utility project award was acted on at this meeting.
The committee voted to forward several spending items to the full council with recommendations for approval: a $9,815 phase-one construction management agreement with CDI Contractors for the Beeley Johnson American Legion Post 139 interior renovation; authorization to purchase 27 police mobile data terminals for $138,531.95, including warranties and keyboards, through a state cooperative purchasing agreement using previously appropriated funds; and a $659,000 budget amendment for fire-department overtime, with staff asked to present further detail at the council meeting and during the 2027 budget process. It also forwarded a $50,000 police-related lawsuit settlement, of which the city’s share is $5,000 and the Municipal League covers $45,000, and approved forwarding a proposal to use Park Set-Aside funds for fencing at Bobby Hopper soccer fields without a recommendation. A proposed downtown golf-cart ordinance was tabled for further committee discussion; no vendor or contract was selected for that proposal.
