Wallingford Public Schools Operations Committee meeting, October 19, 2026: The committee discussed studies needed for the proposed single-high-school project and a planned June 2027 state grant submission. The superintendent presented a $10,500 quote from NNP Planning for an updated enrollment study and a $32,500 site-diligence study; most of the site-study cost was described as already included in the Colliers contract, with about $9,000 in additional costs. These studies were discussed as planned uses of the 2% fund, but the transcript contains no vote authorizing them. Additional anticipated work includes transportation and traffic studies, with the traffic study estimated at $25,000–$40,000, and a possible phase-two site study. Members also discussed uncertainty about the town’s referendum process and what information the Town Council needs regarding the property and project.

The committee reviewed budget and facilities updates, including special-education tuition pressures, health-insurance savings, and utilities costs. By consensus, members approved transferring $22,708 from contingency to replace the northeast stair doors at Sheehan High School. Facilities updates included Daggett elevator work nearing completion; Daggett and Moran boiler projects operating but unfinished; Sheehan elevator design work; Lyman Hall track runway repairs; and preparation of a bid for Sheehan gym scoreboards, with installation expected well into the new year. Cafeteria operations were also reviewed, including increased elementary breakfast participation and consideration of a deli bar; reports and meeting minutes were moved forward to the full Board of Education.
