The October 19, 2026, Blue Springs City Council meeting included approval of an industrial development plan for Durvet’s expansion. The project includes a 41,000-square-foot product-storage facility and authorization for taxable industrial development revenue bonds of up to $7.55 million; the approved incentives include 10-year real-property tax abatement and personal-property tax abatement, with an estimated combined benefit of about $1.15 million. A sales-tax exemption for construction materials was also described; staff noted those purchases would occur outside the city and would not affect city revenue because Blue Springs has no use tax. The council approved the plan on second reading as Ordinance 5531. It also approved agreements for Wyatt Road improvements, including temporary construction easements, as Ordinance 5533; no project cost or contractor was stated.
The council approved an amendment to the Sunshine Law records provisions as Ordinance 5532. A separate code-enforcement amendment, including changes to repeat-violation procedures and managed natural landscapes, was continued to the November 2 meeting so council members could review it further; its public hearing remains open. The meeting also included presentations on police accreditation and Downtown Blue Springs’ revitalization activities, with no related procurement awards identified.
