The Washington County Land Use Planning Commission met on October 21, 2026, for work sessions on the Active Transportation Plan and future work-session topics. Staff reported that the county is developing a long-range plan for walking, biking, and other mobility options, with recommendations to inform the Transportation System Plan update. The work includes evaluating network gaps, revising design guidance and street cross-sections, and considering maintenance needs. Commissioners emphasized safe routes to schools, rural bicycle safety, connections between newer growth areas and the wider network, and access to jobs, transit, and affordable housing. Staff also described a forthcoming Cedar Mill transit-access project supported by Metro grant funding and said the county’s transit priorities will be submitted to TriMet and the Oregon Transportation Commission to qualify for statewide transportation improvement funding. No contract awards or spending approvals were made.

Staff said a request for proposals is expected in about two weeks for the first tranche of planning amendments arising from the county’s code assessment, focused on processes and residential-district code organization; no contract value or award decision was given. The commission also discussed potential future work sessions, including the county budget, housing needs, Metro’s future vision, and planning fees and mandates. The July 15 and August 5 meeting minutes were accepted as submitted without objection. No other procurement decisions or motions were identified.
