The Hardin County Government Finance Committee met October 20, 2026. Staff presented an update to the county’s capitalization policy for committee review, explaining that the existing policy was adopted when the county had a hospital component unit and used different accounting requirements. No action was taken on the policy. The committee also received September financial reports, including account balances, reserves, liabilities, and year-over-year comparisons; no procurement awards or vendor selections were reported.

Staff reviewed Budget Amendment No. 2, which incorporates various revenue and expenditure adjustments. Items included fire-department insurance costs, road-fund revenue directed to asphalt, funding adjustments for the Middle Creek Road grant and Horseshoe Bend Bridge project, and an unbudgeted road-gate replacement. The amendment removes $2 million for a KIA project from the county budget and results in a net negative amendment of approximately $1,516,836. A resolution to continue allocating $50,000 annually for Drug Court from opioid funds, subject to available funding and budget approval, is scheduled to go before the fiscal court; no vote on it occurred at this meeting.
