Commission on Gender Equity 10-19-2026

The City of Norwalk Commission on Gender Equity met on October 19, 2026. Commissioners welcomed two new members, approved an amendment to the agenda to include introductions, and unanimously approved the September 14 meeting minutes. The commission discussed its 2026–27 priorities and adopted the priorities listed on the first page of a draft document; one member abstained. The remaining material, including the social media plan, will continue to be developed rather than approved as a complete plan at this meeting.

Members discussed a proposed low-cost social media presence, initially posting twice monthly on Instagram and Facebook, with volunteers coordinating content and possible later expansion to other platforms. They also coordinated participation and photography for the next day’s community open house, and discussed preparing for December elections of a chair and vice chair(s). No contracts, purchasing decisions, budget allocations, or other procurement activity were identified; the social media discussion described a zero-budget approach, while possible future funding for an intern was only mentioned as a possibility.
