The City of Norwalk Fair Housing Advisory Commission met on October 19, 2026. Commissioners unanimously approved the Fair Housing annual report, which will be sent to the mayor’s office and made available online and in print. The Fair Housing Officer reported that a standardized finance process between the office and city has been finalized to improve spending documentation and accountability. Under the process, expenditures outside approved grant line items will be presented to the commission for a vote, then signed by the chair before funds are requested from the city. No specific contract awards or dollar amounts were discussed.

The commission discussed a missed opportunity to purchase an advertisement because the finance process was finalized too late. Members did not pursue a donation at this time and favored considering an advertisement at a future opportunity, as well as possible fair-housing outreach. The officer also reported 18 confirmed fair-housing concerns in September, mostly involving reasonable accommodations and modifications, and noted upcoming landlord training and a statewide affordable-housing conference. The meeting additionally covered the commission’s annual reporting obligations under its consent decree and its role in fair-housing outreach.
