2026-10-19 Tyler ISD School Board Meeting

The Tyler ISD Board of Trustees’ regular meeting on October 19, 2026, focused on student outcomes, bilingual/ESL education, teacher certification, literacy and numeracy assessments, and community programs. Staff reported that the district served 3,933 emergent bilingual students in 2025–26; TELPAS growth was 32%, down from 49% under a revised state scoring standard. The board also discussed District of Innovation teacher certifications, early-year MCLASS and i-Ready results, and Mentoring Alliance programs. The board approved the District of Innovation Plan, with one trustee opposed, and approved the consent agendas. It separately approved a $5,000 donation from WM Chambers to the Tyler Legacy Choir. Mentoring Alliance reported serving about 1,645 students in its after-school program and operating summer camps and school-based mentoring; no contract or new spending decision concerning the partnership was presented. The meeting also included an annual bilingual-program evaluation, a quarterly investment report, and other district business.
