The Marshfield Common Council’s special budget meeting on October 19, 2026, approved the 2027–2031 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP), including staff-reported revisions and an addition to restore a UWSP Marshfield Laird Building project to 2027; the project’s cost was not stated. CIP revisions included a $2.158 million increase in grant funding, a $1.446 million reduction in long-term debt, and reduced planned use of wastewater fund balance by $995,000. A street reconstruction project received an approximately $2.16 million STP Local grant, while the council also reviewed proposed street, parking, fire, and other capital and operating expenses. The engineering administration budget includes $50,000 for new CAD software and training. Council approved a $38,366 levy adjustment to cover the local share of eligible costs from the March 2026 snow emergency. The 2027 budget remained under review, with further meetings planned and additional savings still to be identified.

Budget discussions also covered fire equipment and building maintenance, a $150,000 stormwater feasibility study, and increased refuse and recycling costs under the existing service contract. Staff reported that the city is seeking health-insurance bids; the one response received projected a 17% increase, and council requested an analysis of dental-benefit alternatives. After the closed session, the council unanimously approved a ten-year agreement with Axon and the Marshfield Police Department for drones; no contract value was provided. The council also approved a TID 10 restriction-on-transfer consent, waiver, and amendment. No contract amount was stated for either closed-session item.
