The Kalispell City Council’s October 19, 2026 session approved the consent agenda, including the purchase of two Building Department vehicles from Knutson Chevrolet for a total of $100,344. The council also unanimously adopted Ordinance 1956, updating building and related codes and adding an optional tiny-home appendix for homes of 400 square feet or less, and Ordinance 1957, updating the city’s fire code. Staff said the updates follow recently adopted state code cycles; the tiny-home provisions are intended to make smaller homes easier to build, and code violations would be treated as civil rather than criminal offenses. No other contract awards or procurement actions were identified.

The city manager reported that lower taxable values may reduce general-fund revenue by about $200,000; staff is seeking clarification from the Department of Revenue, with no budget action taken at this meeting. A future work session will revisit biosolids and the county agreement related to landfill disposal. Council members also discussed the costs of a recent presidential visit and privacy concerns involving tracking technologies, but took no related spending or procurement action.
