The City of Bangor Finance Committee met on October 19, 2026, and considered several procurement items. The committee approved staff recommendations for a Parks and Recreation 3/4-ton truck from Darling’s Ford for $110,173; a Public Works hydroseeder from Hydrograss Corporation for $57,984; a compressor from Technology International Inc. for $25,179; and decorative light fixtures from Coastal Traffic Inc. for $67,886. The truck’s estimated delivery time of 12 weeks was discussed. For the hydroseeder, staff cited specification concerns with another bid and the lack of an in-state dealer for warranty work. The fixtures were among 13 units planned to replace aging equipment, with funding available in the budget.
The committee voted to advance a 10-axle Public Works plow truck from Freightliner of Maine, priced at $273,902, to the full council; staff said its warranty made it preferable to the lower bid. It also recommended that the full council consider awarding the airport TSA checkpoint project to qualified low bidder Sheridan Corp. for approximately $12,956,957, with consideration scheduled for November 6. Officials said the project would use existing passenger facility charges on a pay-as-you-go basis, with no increase in the charge or passengers’ fares; the airport is an enterprise fund. Members requested easier access to bid documents, such as links in agenda memos, and staff reported that the city is actively updating its bid process.
