The Burlington City Council meeting on October 19, 2026, approved the consent agenda, including a contract with the Southeast Iowa Regional Planning Commission to administer a Brownfield Multipurpose Grant, an easement acquisition, and support for the Mississippi River Interceptor Project and an application for wastewater and drinking-water financial assistance. City staff also noted a planned request for a $500,000 grant for sewer work; the funding was being sought, not awarded. The council approved conditional sales of two city properties through its abandoned-building program: 636 South 12th Street for $5,100 to Plowman Properties LLC and 632 South 12th Street for $500 to Justin and Jamie Meyer. Both sales require rehabilitation under city conditions. The council also authorized staff to market and negotiate a sale of the city-owned 1100 Division Street property, with any sale subject to final council approval.
Other infrastructure matters included a permanent encroachment agreement at 314 North Fourth Street to allow a possible rear exit, an upcoming sewer lateral repair on Sunnyside Avenue, and planned replacement of traffic-signal detection equipment at West Avenue and Roosevelt; no costs or vendor were identified for these items. The proposed Dankwardt Pool was discussed in connection with the November 3 referendum and upcoming public information sessions, but no pool contract or spending decision was made at this meeting. The council also issued proclamations and received departmental updates; no other procurement actions were identified.
