The Somerville Climate Action Commission’s October 13, 2026 meeting focused on setting priorities and organizing its work for the coming year. Commissioners discussed three proposed ad hoc committees—Buildings and Energy, Engagement and Outreach, and Accountability and Data—and voted to establish them, with member assignments to be gathered through a preference poll. They also elected Larry Yu as chair and Ripa Phillip as vice chair, approved the September meeting minutes, and discussed developing bylaws, committee procedures, and opportunities for public input.

Discussion topics included building and school decarbonization, energy-code options and possible geothermal use for a school project, utility-bill assistance and energy-efficiency programs, climate education, resilience, and tracking progress on the city’s Climate Forward plan. These were planning and information-sharing discussions; no contracts, vendor selections, procurement approvals, or spending allocations were identified.
