The Jamestown Public School Board meeting on October 19, 2026, approved the consent agenda, including payment of bills, and endorsed an elementary/secondary operational change: a five-period trimester schedule for the 2027–28 school year. The schedule motion passed 8–1. Administrators cited potential annual savings of $767,256 and a potential reduction in secondary staffing from 89 to 80.63 FTE, while noting that detailed scheduling and implementation plans remain to be developed. The board also approved tuition agreements with Montpelier and Pingree schools and approved the recommended policy items presented for action.
For purchasing and funding, the board approved Sherbinsky’s snow-removal bid, priced per event rather than at a fixed seasonal cost. It also approved a Farmers Union Insurance sponsorship agreement supporting activity-bus equipment and related driver training; the district plans to use the agreement as matching support for a technical-skills training grant. The superintendent reported an $80,000 Farmers Union contribution over four years, with $40,000 available across the current and following year. Any vehicle purchase would require further steps, and grant-related purchases must be made before the grant period ends June 30. Facilities planning and winterization work at Washington Elementary were also reported, but no additional facility contract award was made at this meeting.
