The Hardin County Schools Board of Education met on October 15, 2026. The board approved naming the engineering lab at the Future College and Career Center in recognition of a community partnership. The meeting also highlighted a $50,000 Stice Zigger Foundation grant for equipment in the center’s engineering pathways lab and Altec’s $95,000 investment in the district’s eighth-grade We Build It Better STEM and advanced-manufacturing program. Staff presented updates on the EC3 expansion and Central Hardin construction projects: both were reported on schedule, with Central Hardin expected to finish in March or April and EC3 scheduled for completion in December 2027.

The board approved the consent agenda, which included change orders for Phase 2 of Central Hardin, a revision to the BG-1 for the North Hardin High School greenhouse, the district facility plan, and the SFCC fiscal year 2027 KATS offer of assistance. It also approved student-based enterprises at John Hardin and EC3 to sell competitive foods during the school day. The superintendent announced that the district plans to participate in a scholarship-granting organization tax-credit program, with further information and a presentation to come; no specific procurement action or amount was approved for that program at this meeting.
