The City of Hobart Council meeting on 19 October 2026 was the final meeting of the council term. Council received its 2022–2026 end-of-term report, which cited more than $111 million in capital works over the term, an approximately $100 million capital program, and no new loans. Projects and initiatives discussed included the $4.3 million Queenborough Oval redevelopment, the Hall Saddle Visitor Centre, ferry terminal expansion, and a $20 million federal grant for ferry terminals across Greater Hobart. The report was carried despite opposition from several members, who criticized it as incomplete and overly self-congratulatory. The council also unanimously approved a submission on the St John’s Park Health and Well-being Precinct Master Plan, raising points about pedestrian access, landscaping, and coordination with the state government as the project progresses.
A proposal to amend community liability fees and charges—including fees for buskers, market stallholders, artists, and event users—was deferred to a future workshop by a 7–5 vote; existing fees were to continue in the meantime. No contract awards, tenders, or vendor selections were identified. Other matters included a possible extension of Argyle Street car park hours, to be considered later, and a routine delegation for planning decisions during the holiday period; officers identified the Northern Access Road application as a potentially controversial matter still in the information-request stage.
