The Arlington County Board’s October 17, 2026 regular meeting included public comment, consent-agenda action, and regular agenda items. The main spending decision was approval, by a 5–0 vote, of $4,264,000 in Arlington Neighborhoods Program bond funds for five neighborhood projects: neighborhood signs, sidewalk and street improvements, street lighting, and solar-powered bus shelters. A substitute motion to remove the North Cleveland Street sidewalk from the package and reserve its funding failed; the full package then passed 5–0. The North Cleveland project was estimated at about $1.9 million, as was the Douglas Park project, and the Penrose lighting and shelter work at about $415,000. Speakers raised concerns about tree removal, parking, project cost, and the neighborhood petition process; the board discussed further work to refine that process.

On the consent agenda, approved 5–0, the Board accepted or authorized several funding items, including $9.4 million in transit-related grants and agreements (about $8.4 million from the state), $160,000 for the National Memorial Trail, $1 million in state pass-through funding for the Pentagon Memorial Fund’s visitor education center, and a $124,000 Virginia Highway Safety Program grant. An ordinance establishing fees for county-owned EV charging stations was pulled for later consideration. The Board also voted 5–0 to initiate a zoning amendment to align with state legislation allowing qualifying affordable housing on religious and nonprofit-owned properties to receive administrative review; further drafting and public hearings are planned. No vendor or contract award was identified.
