Kenosha County’s Public Works / Facilities Committee held a budget meeting on October 19, 2026, to review proposed 2027 departmental budgets. The committee discussed a proposed 6.4% levy increase and a recommended $24.52 million in Public Works bonding within a countywide limit of about $29 million. Voice votes approved the UW Extension, Planning and Development, Facilities, Parks, and Golf budgets; the transcript does not capture a vote on the Highways budget. Planning and Development also received authority to accept and spend grant funds for the South Branch Pike River project, with no anticipated county cost impact. No vendor or contract awards were recorded.

Capital and infrastructure discussions included the final phase of roof replacement at KCDC, which remains in the bid process; Facilities’ proposed additional $50,000 for major equipment and $25,000 for energy efficiency; and a revised Highway W/82nd Street and Highway 50 allocation, reduced from $750,000 to $250,000 for 2027, with $250,000 shifted to 2028 and the remaining amount to be monitored. Highways also discussed a one-time school-zone signage expense, plans to pave roughly 11.5 miles, and a proposed $1.35 million for vehicle purchases, against an estimated $3.3 million average annual replacement need. The committee noted that replacing 101 vehicles to meet DOT useful-life standards would cost about $20 million. No specific vendor selections or bid approvals were identified.
