The City of Sacramento Historic Preservation Commission met on April 17, 2024. The commission unanimously recommended that the City Council list the South Land Park Hills Eichler Historic District, 2025 P Street, and 1049 44th Street on the Sacramento Register of Historic and Cultural Resources, with the applicable CEQA exemption determinations. The district proposal covers 60 properties, including 49 contributing resources. These were preservation-designation recommendations, not construction contract awards or purchasing decisions; no procurement activity was identified.
The director’s report noted a National Trust for Historic Preservation grant matched by Preservation Sacramento for a total of $10,000 to support community stipends for the LGBTQ+ historic context and survey project. The report also mentioned a proposal by Railyard Ventures to rehabilitate the Paint Shop building, potentially using historic tax credits, but no contract or funding action was taken by the commission. Other updates included public outreach, a preservation bike tour, and the Sacramento Shops Historic District’s recent National Register listing.
