At its February 21, 2024 meeting, the City of Sacramento Preservation Commission considered whether the Home Savings and Loan building at 1950 Arden Way should be listed on the Sacramento Register of Historic and Cultural Resources. The property owner’s consultant, Dudek, argued that the building did not meet listing criteria, while city staff and public speakers supported designation based on its New Formalist architecture, Millard Sheets Studio association, and Sacramento-themed mosaics. Commissioners discussed eligibility under criteria 3, 4, and 5, as well as possible adaptive reuse options. The commission voted unanimously, 4–0, to recommend listing the building; discussion and an accepted friendly amendment addressed the criterion 4 finding. The City Council would consider the recommendation.

The consent calendar was also approved. No contract awards, purchasing decisions, budget allocations, or other procurement activity were identified; Dudek was mentioned as a consultant hired by the property owner, not through a city procurement action.
