At its October 22, 2026 meeting, the Cary Town Council unanimously approved the amended consent agenda, including contracts with Capital Ford and Piedmont Truck Center for FY2027 new and replacement fleet vehicles, and acceptance of funds from North Carolina’s 2026 local law enforcement bonus program; no contract amounts were stated. A resident also urged the Town to publish monthly, transaction-level purchasing-card (P-card) activity online, citing Apex’s reporting practice; the transcript records the suggestion but no Council action on it. In a public hearing on the FY2026 CDBG CAPER, staff reported more than $2.4 million in federal and local investment—over $1.6 million in Cary general funds and over $800,000 in federal CDBG funds—supporting affordable housing, rehabilitation, and housing stability. The hearing required no Council action.

Residents raised concerns that a proposed railroad-crossing and road project on East Chatham Street and Maynard Road could displace or disrupt local businesses; Town staff directed them to submit comments through 311 for routing to transportation staff and NCDOT. The Council also approved the Green Level Church at Mills Farm Road rezoning by a 4–3 vote. Separately, Council approved employee-survey and personnel/budget-related measures arising from the special commission’s recommendations, and unanimously appointed Interim Manager Russ Overton as town manager.
