Groton Athletic Fields Task Force - 10/15/26

The Groton Athletic Fields Task Force met on October 15, 2026. Members reviewed project updates for the athletic-field work: the geotechnical report indicates slow infiltration, and the team is working with civil engineering staff to assess stormwater options. The Town agreed to proceed with a waiver request concerning bathroom fixture requirements. Staff are working with manufacturers to establish designs for bleachers, a scoreboard, and bathroom/concession facilities, with selections targeted by the end of October. The anticipated procurement schedule calls for bid review and contract award in December 2026 or January 2027; members noted the project may be about a month behind schedule. No contract award or procurement-related vote occurred at this meeting.

Members discussed where track activities and other users may be accommodated while the field is under construction, including possible use of Grasso Tech, and noted the need to keep the public informed about facility selections and project progress. The September meeting minutes were approved by a 3–0 vote. The November 19 meeting was skipped, with the next meeting scheduled for December 17 at 7:00 p.m.
