TTAD Special Board Meeting October 16, 2026

The Tahoe Truckee Airport District’s special board budget workshop on October 16, 2026, reviewed revisions to the proposed FY2027 budget ahead of a planned final budget presentation and approval on October 21. The workshop did not include formal votes. Board guidance favored deferring the approximately $2.5 million Apron A4 mill-and-fill project and retaining about $80,000 for crack repair and sealing while staff explores options and future FAA funding. Members also indicated they would not pay off either of the district’s loans. The revised budget includes a projected $5 million land sale; board members discussed treating it separately from operating revenue and considering community uses for the proceeds. Other capital and reserve items included a proposed warehouse roof replacement, a $250,000 placeholder for Park Lawn drainage and renovation, and further review of hangar repairs and retirement plans. The district is assuming no FAA funding for the FY2027 budget.

Staff presented placeholders or proposed costs including $100,000 for a noise-monitoring system, $40,000 for possible additional wage-study costs if a different consultant is selected, $40,000 for expanded public-relations work, and a projected 40% increase in property-insurance premiums. The budget also includes $9,300 annually for a direct phone line to Oakland Center; staff described L3Harris services as a significant existing aviation-data cost, about $220,000 annually. The board indicated consensus for a $1,000 monthly working-environment stipend and supported expanding the annual employee lifestyle allowance to $1,500 per employee, with details to be incorporated into the draft. Members discussed, but did not resolve, additional community-benefit proposals, including continued fire funding, a Kids Zone contribution, and a community STEAM/CTE facility. No contract award or vendor selection was made.
