Robbinsdale Area Schools Board business meeting and study session, October 19, 2026. The board approved the routine consent agenda, a casual salary schedule adjustment, and license-staff lane changes; staff said the lane changes are based on credits submitted under the collective bargaining agreement and are retroactive to July 1. A director requested confirmation that the lane adjustments are covered by budget estimates. The board also unanimously approved resolutions supporting Minnesota State High School League Foundation Form A and Form B grant applications. Form A supports student extracurricular activities and reduced activity fees; Form B seeks funding for leadership initiatives, safety, and transportation intended to reduce participation barriers. No vendor selections, contract awards, or bid approvals were identified.
The study session focused on possible 2027–28 budget reductions amid statutory operating debt and an anticipated additional $2–3 million in reductions. Staff cited estimated annual savings of $1.8 million from eliminating magnet transportation, and costs of about $485,000 for elementary instrumental music and $354,000 for middle-school instrumental music; board members debated these and other student-facing programs but made no reduction decisions. Members requested further analysis on grade reconfiguration, transportation routes and alternatives, enrollment, vendor/software spending and termination costs, and potential efficiencies. The November 3 referendum was discussed as a factor in future facility and budget choices; if approved, the proposed facility plan includes consolidations and improvements, with projects preliminarily expected to finish by fall 2031. These plans were discussed but not approved at this meeting.
