At its October 15, 2026 regular meeting, the Sierra Sands Unified School District Board approved, 5–0, the purchase of a 2026 Ford Maverick XLT for the Child Nutrition program for $34,164.61 from the lowest of three quotes, submitted by Jim Charland Ford in Ridgecrest. The vehicle will be funded by Child Nutrition funds and free the department’s current fleet vehicle for use by another department. The board also approved appointments to the Career Technical Education advisory committee; related incidental costs are expected to be under $200, with the district’s 2026–27 Perkins allocation reported as $61,892. Los Flores staff reported receiving a $5,000 grant for its school garden and food pantry.

Facilities and community-use costs were discussed, including requests from nonprofit after-school clubs and youth sports groups for reduced or waived facility fees; the board took no action to change the fee policy. Members supported providing further information on how facility rates are calculated, with staff indicating that discussion could occur in December or later. The district also reported that a proposal for replacing glue-laminated roof components was pending and that automotive lifts were out of service until related work is completed. No other specific contract awards or bid approvals were identified.
