🏥 Healthcare 🚨 Public Safety Emergency Response

The City of Blue Springs Neighbors in Need Task Force Public Forum, held in conjunction with the Public Safety Board’s annual forum and titled October 15, 2026, focused on coordinating services for vulnerable residents. The task force, created in February 2026 under the city’s strategic plan, is inventorying organizations and services available to Blue Springs residents and seeking broader participation from nonprofits, churches, schools, and other community partners. The mayor said the task force will continue this work, consider resident involvement, and develop an operational process for connecting people to help; an action plan is expected to be presented to the City Council. No procurement decisions, spending approvals, or votes were identified.

Presenters described police Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) responses and coordination with Centerstone, which provides behavioral-health and substance-use services in Eastern Jackson County. Jackson County Public Health and Environment presented IRIS, a cross-sector referral platform that tracks referrals and service capacity; participation is free to organizations, and the county covers platform costs. The county reported about 210 participating organizations and 11,600 referrals completed in the prior year, with 97% resulting in a closed-loop outcome. The discussion identified a need to add more Blue Springs organizations to the network and noted that the city’s social-services inventory and referral coordination work remain ongoing.
