Rockingham County Public Schools Board regular meeting, October 26, 2026. The board approved a bid award for food-service equipment for the McGaheysville Elementary School kitchen renovation, following a competitive process in which bids were sent to eight firms. The superintendent recommended the low bidder; the award passed unanimously (4–0). The equipment work is planned for around spring break, with meal-service arrangements during the kitchen closure. The board also reviewed September bills and mileage through the consent agenda. In discussion of road-diesel procurement, staff said the current price arrangement is locked through July 1 and had saved the division hundreds of thousands of dollars this year; staff will assess whether locking in prices again for the next fiscal year is financially prudent, though current prices will not carry over.

The board approved revisions to policies concerning admission of homeless children and school visitors. Staff presented the FY 2027–28 budget calendar, including budget requests due January 8, a January 11 public hearing, board review of requests on January 26, and a planned March 23 budget vote; no budget allocations were approved at this meeting. The board also received an update that middle-school students in grades 6–8 remain eligible for designated state and national CTSO events, while staff develop consistent student-readiness, supervision, and trip-safety practices. Other discussion included proposed policy revisions on diabetes care and board committees, and efforts to recruit substitute bus drivers.
