The City of Englewood City Council’s regular meeting on October 19, 2026, included several procurement and capital-project approvals. Council unanimously approved a $600,000 city contribution to the South Englewood Basin IGA with Mile High Flood District, matched by $600,000 from the district, for future flood-reduction work. It also approved a professional services agreement with Hazen and Sawyer for sewer-alignment mitigation, authorizing $405,140 plus a $40,514 contingency (total $445,654), and a design agreement with Johnston, Merriman and Thompson for water-system redundancy and stormwater improvements, authorizing $371,639 plus a $37,164 contingency (total $408,803). The 2027 Englewood Economic Development Authority budget was approved, as was an MOU with Libraries Without Borders under which the nonprofit will provide up to $5,000 annually for three years, totaling no more than $15,000, for program supplies and materials with no city budget impact. A pedestrian signal project at Fox and Oxford was included in the approved consent agenda; no contract amount was stated. Council also approved the 2027 mill levy and received notice of a $45,000 state grant for the city’s accessory dwelling unit pre-approved plans pilot.
The Greater Englewood Chamber of Commerce reported on its city-funded contract—$20,000 annually in two payments during year one of a three-year term—and business climate survey; its representatives said the chamber has limited funds and expects to discuss future support with council in November, but no new funding was approved. Council gave staff direction to defer or redirect funding planned for Broadway median and bulb-out painting, with members favoring other project needs such as drainage improvements; no formal vote was taken on that direction. A proposed ethics-code restriction on former employees’ work on matters they handled for the city was discussed, with council requesting additional information and taking no action. Council unanimously passed a construction-hours ordinance extending quiet-hour protections to streets and rights-of-way throughout the city, and approved an abandoned-property code change 6–1. A residential nonconforming-use code bill was tabled unanimously for further review by the Planning and Zoning Commission and a later council study session.
