Scottsdale Transportation Commission meeting, October 15, 2026: Commissioners reviewed the first draft of the city’s Strategic Transportation Safety Plan, prepared with consultant TY Lin. Discussion focused on the high-injury network, safety countermeasures, data and reporting, and how to prioritize systemwide improvements alongside high-risk locations. Commissioners recommended adding an executive summary, clarifying project-spending figures and technical illustrations, and strengthening measurable, long-term safety goals. Staff said it would incorporate feedback and return with revisions; the plan is scheduled for public review and a return to the commission in January 2027 before a later City Council adoption request. The consultant’s work was described, but no contract award or dollar amount was presented, and no procurement or spending vote was taken.

Staff also provided status updates on roadway, bridge, sidewalk, and path projects, including a federally funded Thomas Road corridor project being coordinated with ADOT, construction expected to begin on Thompson Peak Parkway in November 2026, and several pedestrian and biking improvements. Valley Metro’s regional bus network redesign is open for public comment through November 30, 2026. The commission approved the prior meeting minutes and appointed Vice Chair Cardella to the Paths and Trails Subcommittee; neither action involved procurement. Staff said a trolley layout and recommended capital improvement program list would return at a future meeting.
