The Milton Select Board meeting of October 13, 2026, discussed the proposed Laboure College acquisition and its relationship to the town’s school-building process. Town officials reported that the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) had provided initial feedback on adding a pre-K–K enrollment option for study alongside other options. The study would use the same owner’s project manager and designer, with an estimated three-to-four-month process after the town formally requests it; officials said a longer delay could compress the project schedule. The board also discussed warrant Article 7 and possible contingency funding, but took no vote on the articles.
The board reviewed $6.4 million in certified free cash, noting that some funds may be needed for collective bargaining and that the revenue includes one-time sources. Members discussed potential uses for capital infrastructure and planning; $120,000 in free cash is funding the ongoing traffic-calming planning effort. The board authorized the DPW director to spend transportation-network-company assessment funds on traffic mitigation, including speed-feedback signs, road signs, and other calming measures. It also approved a revised traffic-mitigation subcommittee charge emphasizing data evaluation. No contract award or vendor selection was identified; officials said traffic-calming designs were being priced by contractors and referred to a study scope with a consultant.
