The Harbor Park public information session, hosted by Scituate Community Television on October 15, 2026, reviewed the proposed Pier 44 Harbor Park and its role in the town’s coastal-resilience strategy. The project team presented a design at 90% construction documents, described as ready to proceed to bidding once funding and final details are settled, and said the design had Select Board approval and all required local, state, and federal permits. The proposed park includes an elevated boardwalk and small-boat tie-up, open lawn and plaza, rain gardens and native planting, and 20 parking spaces. A possible future option to increase parking to 32 spaces was discussed but is not in the current plan.

The main spending matter is a proposed $3.8 million Community Preservation Committee (CPC) funding request for the project, reduced from an initial estimate of about $6.8 million through value engineering and design changes. Officials said the funding plan may spread costs over several years using future CPC revenues and borrowing, and stated that no tax increase or override was proposed. The town has received grant funding and has applied for more than $1 million in additional grants. No contract award, vendor selection, or bid approval occurred at this session; residents were directed to a forthcoming town meeting, where they would vote on the CPC funding proposal, which requires a two-thirds majority. Maintenance, parking, traffic access, and flood-resilience concerns were also discussed.
