Lake County El Niño preparedness town hall, titled October 14, 2025, focused on winter weather forecasts, emergency readiness, and flood management. National Weather Service staff described the possibility of above-normal precipitation and elevated Clear Lake and burn-scar risks, especially in the latter half of the wet season, while emphasizing that impacts depend on individual storms. County emergency officials outlined alert registration, evacuation and household planning, coordinated response preparations, and how residents can report damage.

The County Water Resources Director said the Clover Creek Diversion Channel RFP had closed and several bids were received; the County was working through contracts and permitting, with vegetation and sediment removal intended for a January–March work window to restore flood conveyance capacity. No vendor selection, contract award, or spending vote was reported. Officials also described plans for other creek mitigation work, subject to permitting. The meeting clarified that the County does not provide free sandbags to the public under a policy originating in a 1997 Board vote; residents can consult the County’s list of local vendors. The County said an emergency declaration would not itself provide funding or remove permitting requirements.
