🚨 Public Safety 🚚 Transportation Grants & Funding Physical Infrastructure

The City of Flagstaff Tourism Commission met on October 8, 2026. The commission approved the August 27 meeting minutes; the motion passed. A major agenda item was a briefing on the city’s proposed Public Safety ballot measures 404 and 405, which the City Council approved for referral in June. Measure 404 would provide recurring revenue for public-safety staffing, training, equipment, and operations through a half-cent sales tax; Measure 405 would fund one-time capital needs through general-obligation bonds. The presentation cited approximately $40 million in bonds, an estimated $15 million in development-impact fees for growth-related facilities, and $95 million in available bonding capacity. Officials said the proposals address staffing and facility needs across fire, police, airport emergency response, and emergency management. The commission discussed the proposals but took no vote on them.

Other funding updates included an $800,000 U.S. Department of Transportation incentive grant for additional airport air service, with the city still consulting with the department because two airlines are seeking the incentive and no agreements have been signed. Officials also noted that Arizona had allocated $4 million toward a new wildfire fire station, with additional funding needed to complete the project. No contract awards, vendor selections, or procurement approvals were reported. The commission also received tourism, visitor-services, and marketing updates, including seasonal activity and meeting-booking programs.
