🏗️ Construction & Infrastructure Grants & Funding Physical Infrastructure

The Salinas Planning Commission met on October 7, 2026. After approving the September 16 meeting minutes, commissioners received a presentation on the city’s two-year economic development work plan. The plan covers support for existing businesses, business attraction, tourism and branding, land use and infrastructure, and coordination across city departments. Staff described active initiatives including facade and technology/marketing grant programs funded by the General Fund; the presenter said the grants provide $2,500 per business. The city is also working on disposition of city-owned parking lots 8 and 12, an enhanced infrastructure financing district with Monterey County, and real estate portfolio management. Staff reported completed sales of 342 Front Street and 323 California Street to the Monterey County Office of Education. No new contract awards, bids, or procurement approvals were presented, and the work plan was not put to a vote.
