State & Local

The City of Delray Beach Special Magistrate held a quasi-judicial code-enforcement meeting on October 15, 2026. The magistrate approved the consent agenda; no minutes were considered. Most of the meeting addressed alleged property and construction-site violations, including unlicensed business activity and vehicles, unpermitted tree or vegetation removal, unpermitted work, property maintenance, and erosion and sediment controls. Orders generally gave property owners time to comply and established potential daily fines. In one irreparable-violation case involving debris discharged into the city storm sewer (case 26001112), the magistrate assessed a one-time $5,000 fine, payable within 30 days. Another stormwater/construction-site case (26001137) received 30 days to comply or face a potential $100-per-day fine.

Other rulings included a 90-day compliance period with a potential $100-per-day fine for unpermitted tree removal; 30-day compliance periods with potential daily fines for several other violations; and 15 days to remove an unlicensed vehicle, or a potential $100-per-day fine. The magistrate extended the compliance date in case 2600534 to December 14, 2026, after the property manager described vendor and fabrication work still needed; a potential $150-per-day fine may apply after that date. A separate request to revisit a previously paid, reduced fine was reset while the city’s authority to refund or further mitigate it is researched. No procurement, contract awards, vendor selections, or purchasing decisions were identified.
