The City of Minnetonka Economic Development Advisory Commission met on October 15, 2026. Its main business was a presentation on the city’s tax increment financing (TIF) districts and year-end recommendations. The consultant recommended returning unused balances from the old soils district and Applewood Point to the county for redistribution, and making additional affordable-housing elections in several districts—including Glen Haven, Marsh Run 2, and Opus Business Park—to take advantage of special legislative authority that expires December 31, 2026. The recommended year-end transfers to the affordable housing trust fund total about $1.4 million; if completed, the fund balance would exceed $8.5 million. Commissioners discussed the recommendations, including the potential value of increasing the affordable-housing allocation, but took no formal vote on them. The report is scheduled for City Council consideration. No contract award or purchasing decision was identified.
The commission also reviewed the 2050 comprehensive-plan update, including housing, transportation, land use, and growth projections. Staff expects to use consultants for parts of the planning work, but no consultant selection or contract was presented. Staff updates covered development projects, the Green Line opening timeline, and upcoming zoning and housing ordinances; these were updates or ongoing policy work rather than procurement actions.
