Lewis and Clark County Commission public meeting, October 15, 2026: Commissioners unanimously approved a grant application to the Montana Department of Transportation for repairs to the east and west abutments of a bridge serving about 38 residences. The work is estimated at $1,453,989; the application requests $1 million, requires a $250,000 match, and the remaining cost is to come from the county’s bridge infrastructure budget. Commissioners also unanimously approved an application for Montana Healthy Montana Families funding of up to $555,732 per year for seven years to provide Parents as Teachers home-visiting services. Staff said the state’s new funding cycle no longer supports the Nurse-Family Partnership model, so the county is applying under one model instead.
The commission also unanimously approved an amendment to the state firearms safe-storage grant supporting veteran suicide-prevention work and statewide outreach. The transcript’s dollar figures are garbled, but appear to indicate an additional amount of about $245,325, bringing the grant total to about $545,325, and extending the grant period through September 30, 2027. A separate public hearing considered changing a 27.44-acre parcel near North Montana Avenue and Sierra Road from R1/R2 to CLM zoning, which would allow uses including contractor storage yards; the transcript ends before any commission decision on that item. No contract awards or vendor selections were identified.
