The Municipality of Anchorage Public Naming Commission met on October 14, 2026, and considered four honorary naming proposals. It voted 5–0 to recommend naming the Northeast Connector Trail the Karen Bronga Chugach Foothills Connector, 5–0 to recommend changing Eagle River Town Square Park’s name to Piples Field, and 5–0 to recommend naming the Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility headquarters building the Mark C. Primo Headquarters Building. The commission also voted 3–2 to recommend a naming proposal honoring former Assembly member Dick Traini; the transcript does not clearly capture the facility or exact proposed name. Commission staff and the chair said they would prepare memoranda and packets for Assembly consideration.

During discussion of the Karen Bronga proposal, commissioners addressed the municipal code’s 36-month posthumous naming provision. The chair clarified that the commission advises the Assembly on whether to support a proposed name, while the Assembly determines how to act under the code. Commissioners also discussed whether broader community input would be useful for the Dick Traini proposal. No procurement or spending activity was identified.
