The North Allegheny School District Board’s regular meeting on October 28, 2026, included a schematic-design presentation for the North Allegheny Intermediate High School project. Consultants from the Shrader Group and Site Logic presented plans for a replacement building, site circulation and athletic-area work. The current estimated project cost is about $165 million, including contingencies; the estimate excludes a $1.025 million RCAP grant for the pool. The project is entering design development, with possible value engineering to manage costs, bidding targeted for fall 2027, and construction planned to begin in early 2028. The presentation described the Duncan Avenue access road and baseball-field relocation, among other site work. The board also considered an agenda item concerning a McClure Company statement of work for demolition of a residential building on district property; the transcript does not clearly establish the vote result, and a board member stated she would abstain from item 14.
Several community members urged the board to expand or renovate the district’s aquatic facilities, citing limited pool capacity and opportunities for student and community use. Speakers advocated a 10-lane, regulation-size pool and requested transparent pricing of alternatives, but the board took no recorded action on the proposal. The board unanimously approved the September 9 and September 23 meeting minutes. A state law requiring school policies restricting student cell-phone use during the school day beginning next school year was also noted, with district implementation still to be considered.
