10-15-26 Highway Committee meeting

The Waupaca County Highway Committee met on October 15, 2026. It approved September payment vouchers totaling $114,433.96, with construction-season paving and graveling among the expenses. The committee also approved winter-material prices: salt-sand mix at $44 per ton for service-agreement customers and $48.40 for non-service customers; salt at $98 and $107.80 per ton, respectively; and salt brine at $0.04 per gallon. For a state-funded maintenance project on County Trunk Highway X, the committee approved the consultant ranking with Westwood Engineering ranked first. The Wisconsin DOT is to coordinate a three-party contract; the state will fund 80% of the project, with design planned for 2027–28 and construction in 2029.

The committee approved proposed ordinance wording to allow black HDPE plastic driveway culverts, subject to further county-level approval. It was also reported that the county did not receive awards for several road-project STP applications, though it did receive a bridge award estimated at about $500,000; the unsuccessful applications require revisions to the county’s capital improvement plans. The department reported about $1.3 million remaining in its construction budget, including planned paving and gravel work, and approximately $451,000 in expenses submitted for FEMA reimbursement. No final contract award for the Highway X engineering work was reported.
