The Jeffco Public Schools Board of Education meeting on October 15, 2026, included a vote to conditionally approve the Mesa K–8 charter application, amended to require 80% accepted enrollment by January 29, 2027, and a budget based on that enrollment level. The vote was 3–2. The board also approved consent agenda items 6.01–6.07 and adopted changes to policy GPO7, restructuring budget and mill-levy oversight through a Financial Audit Advisory Committee and a DAC subcommittee. The board discussed, but did not take action on, a proposed cap on administrative spending; staff presented 7.2% of general-fund expenditures as a benchmark, while board members considered lower figures. Community members also raised concerns about a previously proposed $8 million purchase of 18,000 Chromebooks and called for an audit of classroom technology’s costs and effectiveness; no new technology purchase or procurement action was taken.
A monitoring report on extracurricular, enrichment, and advanced-learning access described participation, program costs, and facility needs. Staff cited pressure from rising family fees and identified needs involving athletic facilities, including locker rooms, tracks, lighting, and security; board members asked whether a systemwide facilities assessment or capital plan would cover these areas, but no funding or construction decision was made. The board also considered positions on ballot measures, including support for Amendment 87 and Proposition NN, which were described as generating education revenue, and support for Lakewood Issue 2G for sidewalks and safer bike routes. No contract awards, RFP decisions, or new purchasing approvals were identified.
