The Johnson County Convention, Visitors, and Tourism Board met on October 14, 2026, and approved a $1,320 grant reimbursement to the Town of Trafalgar for one concert at its amphitheater. The board denied a $1,500 Raising Spirits grant request because the application arrived too late for the bureau’s marketing and ticket requirements. Edinburgh Main Street reported strong attendance and regional reach for its Rubber Duck Regatta, which had received board support previously.
The board voted to commit to working with the Pixie Forever Foundation on an investment of up to $100,000 over 10 years for Pixie Theatre programming and facilities. The commitment is not an immediate grant award: the board’s attorney will develop formal terms, including conditions related to the theatre purchase and building stabilization, and any payments will depend on future budget appropriations and board approval. The foundation said it has $400,000 in partner commitments toward the purchase and roof work; the purchase price is $280,000 and the latest roof estimate is $270,000. A possible permanent disc golf course in Edinburgh is expected to come before the board next month. The treasurer reported a $502,269.86 check balance at the end of August and expenses presented of $154,063.34 in September and $134,292.11 in October.
