The Tempe Elementary Schools Governing Board met on October 14, 2026. The board approved the FY 2025β26 annual financial report and Phase 1 design services for the Fees College Preparatory Middle School project; no dollar amount for the design-services approval was stated. McCarthy Building Companies and SPS+ Architects presented the project update, reporting that design development was underway and costs were being tracked against project budgets. A guaranteed maximum price is expected at the end of design development, after which the district will seek board approval to proceed with construction documents and construction. Board members raised questions about parking, traffic, safe routes, and the projectβs performing-arts facilities, requesting further consideration of access and parking options.
The CFO reported $71 million in bond expenses for FY 2025β26, with more than half associated with projects including solar and turf, and noted estimated lifetime savings of nearly $60 million from related investments. The district also reported electricity costs about $300,000 lower than the prior year. The board approved an $8,000 Molina Healthcare grant for behavioral-health scholarships and heard an update on a 21st Century grant program whose funding had been temporarily placed on hold after a missed reporting deadline; the corrective action plan was accepted and clubs resumed. The board also approved a data-sharing agreement between Tempe Elementary and Tempe Union High School districts. No specific vendor contract amount was stated for the Fees design-services approval.
