The Dubuque Community School District Board of Education met on October 12, 2026. Much of the public comment concerned proposed school and grade reconfiguration scenarios, especially scenario three. Many speakers urged the board to delay a planned November decision, citing unanswered questions about savings and capital costs, transportation, student outcomes, transitions, and extracurricular access; others supported the task-force process and moving forward. The board did not vote on the reconfiguration proposal. A facilities committee report referenced planning for possible Roosevelt Middle School construction and remodeling, and the board approved an $18,500 professional-services agreement with WHKS and Company for a Roosevelt traffic study.

The board approved several facilities actions: final acceptance of the Eisenhower Elementary roof replacement and a $9,166.31 final payment to Geisler Brothers Company; change orders for Conlon Construction Company (+$3,492.02, Irving mechanical upgrades), Tricon Construction Group (-$28,683.27, Sageville fuel-oil tank replacement), Portzen Construction Inc. (-$10,139, Dalzell South retaining wall), and PlayPower LT Farmington/Play-Pro Recreation (+$3,400, Irving playground). It also approved requests to the School Budget Review Committee for $6,392,540.84 in special-education deficit spending authority and $689,218.55 for English-language program excess costs, both funded through a cash reserve levy; the special-education request passed with one dissenting vote. Other actions included accepting a donated greenhouse and shade structure for Roosevelt Middle School and approving the consent agenda. No contract award or vote on the broader school-reconfiguration scenarios was identified.
