Regular Board Meeting - Oct 15 2026

AVUHSD’s regular board meeting was held October 15, 2026 (the metadata lists October 16). The board approved the PINCO purchase-order schedule and several facilities and construction actions: Change Order No. 1 for Chalmers Construction Services’ SOAR South Campus interim housing project; an $80,919.86 change order with Next Mod Inc. for SOAR interim housing modulars; five-firm, five-year pools for geotechnical engineering and hazardous-materials consulting under the Measure AVH bond program; an agreement with J.S. Held LLC for asbestos and lead testing at three high schools; Bid No. 226-27 for multi-site tree trimming and removal to West Coast Arborists Inc. as the lowest responsible bidder; and a chiller purchase for Eastside High School’s central plant from Vertical Systems. The board also adopted a resolution designating certain products, brands, or services for campus projects. These procurement motions passed; no amounts were stated for the contracts other than the Next Mod change order.

The board adopted revised bylaws for the student board member, including a $500 monthly stipend and a $7,500 post-completion scholarship, and reviewed the mobile-device policy without taking action to change it. Other discussion included literacy-support results, school presentations, and public concerns about a vehicle-washing business and the lack of a drama teacher; the superintendent was asked to follow up on those concerns. The consent agenda was approved, including a donation of a vehicle for Quartz Hill High School’s automotive program and an Antelope Valley Family YMCA partnership item.
