The Kent City School District Board of Education held its regular meeting on October 20, 2026. Procurement actions included unanimous approval of a three-year BusRite bus-routing and GPS software agreement, selected over Transfinder and VersaTrans; the agreement includes tablets and mounts, with pricing not stated. The board also ratified the purchase of four maintenance trucks, with the district noting it bought two buses rather than its usual three and used the remaining budget for maintenance vehicles; Sarceon Ford was identified in the financial report in connection with vehicle purchases. Members unanimously approved a Harrelson Roofing invoice for $10,21.20 in additional decking work, bringing the project total to $40,896.20, after the work revealed more damaged decking than anticipated. The district said the total exceeded its $40,000 threshold for obtaining three quotes, but the additional work was not known in advance.
Other approved items included an auxiliary-services agreement using allocated funds for St. Patrick’s School to purchase counseling services from PSI; transportation reimbursement and inter-district transportation agreements; a renewal agreement with the Educational Service Center of Northeast Ohio for personnel services; and 13 donations. The district also reported engaging AccessibilityChecker.org to review and monitor its website for a year; no cost was given. The online learning plan passed with one no vote, while other recorded procurement-related approvals were unanimous. The board reviewed proposed policy revisions for consideration at its November meeting, but no policy revisions were adopted at this meeting.
