The Grant County Public Safety Communications Policy Board met on October 14, 2026. Procurement and technology discussions included an AT&T hardware refresh for the 911 phone system, which is under contract through 2027. The refresh is intended to keep the system current for the remainder of the contract; the director hopes to have a new phone solution ready for contracting by summer 2027 and said an RFP will be issued. AT&T may continue providing 911 call service, while phone equipment could come from AT&T or another provider. The board also discussed replacing discontinued Plantronics wireless headsets: six headsets previously purchased were found unsuitable, and staff are testing another brand before purchasing four additional units. Four hours of dispatcher training per employee are included in the agency’s Priority Dispatch contract.

Other operational topics included radio audio and coverage problems, possible building signal-boosting equipment, and plans to investigate whether Active911 dispatch details can be improved. The director reported that the County Council had voted on a $2,000 raise for full-time employees and a 3% raise for part-time employees, with implementation issues still to be resolved for dispatch staff whose hourly rates are the same. No new contract award or specific procurement dollar amount was reported; no motion or vote on a purchasing action was identified.
